Postdoctoral Resident

Dr. Katherine H. Cadwalader is a clinical psychology resident practicing in East Fort Lauderdale and Plantation, FL. She completed her Master of Science and Doctor of Psychology, Clinical Psychology degrees at the American Psychological Association’s (APA) accredited program at Nova Southeastern University (NSU). During her years of extensive training, she specialized in psychodynamic psychotherapy and completed the four-year, APA-accredited concentration at NSU. She further completed clinical practica at the Bruce W. Carter Miami VA Hospital, where she performed neuropsychological assessments and collaborated with veterans, their physicians, and families to create a comprehensive care plan for their continued health. Dr. Cadwalader received in-patient training in a group, individual, and family psychotherapies with children, adolescents, and young adults at the Nicklaus Children’s Hospital in-patient psychiatric unit. 

Dr. Cadwalader’s training includes treatment with patients at the Intensive Psychodynamic Psychotherapy Clinic in NSU, where she specializes in long-term psychodynamic psychotherapy. She completed a year of psychotherapeutic training at the NSU Counseling Center for Older Adults. Her specialized training in psychotherapeutic care with older adults led her to complete her APA-accredited Internship specializing in geropsychology. During her two years of collaboration with older adult patients, Dr. Cadwalader completed rotations with multidisciplinary medical teams at the NSU Geriatric Medicine Clinic at the College of Osteopathic Medicine, and the NSU Clinic within Covenant Village assisted living facility.

Dr. Cadwalader believes every patient should be cared for as an individual with unique needs to address that are considered within their own history. Her training across various specialties and psychotherapeutic modalities has enhanced her approach to contemporary psychodynamic psychology, which is a collaborative experience between patient and clinical psychologist. She treats individuals seeking personal psychotherapy to enhance their understanding of themselves, deepen their relationships, and realize their fullest potential. She offers psychological assessment, consultation, and individual and family psychotherapy to young adults and older adults. Her specialties include treating individuals and families who are experiencing concerns regarding aging, life transitions, mood disorders, personality disorders, and posttraumatic stress disorders.
