Dr. Rachel Shafrir

Meet Dr. Rachel Shafrir. With her extensive training in evaluation and treatment and passion for neurodiversity and understanding the human mind, Dr. Rachel works with clients to tackle a wide range of mental health, learning, and behavioral issues. She specializes in work with children, adolescents, young adults, and their families, and also helps parents navigate the educational system in support of their children.
Known fondly as “Dr. Rachel” by her clients, she is a down-to-earth and approachable practitioner. She believes in treating the whole person, customizing evidence-based approaches to suit each unique individual.
Dr. Rachel offers a trio of services:
- Psycho-educational evaluations: She provides psycho-educational assessments and recommendations, helping children, adolescents, young adults, and parents understand and support their own/ their child’s intellectual, academic and social/emotional/behavioral needs.
- School consultations: Dr. Rachel assists parents in navigating the educational process, ensuring their child’s therapeutic or learning needs blends seamlessly into their education for added support and success.
- Treatment: She offers comprehensive treatment spanning a wide range of issues from attentional and executive functioning difficulties (such as ADHD), learning challenges, anxiety, and emotional regulation, for example. She also assists parents in managing behavioral issues at home and provides valuable education and training to parents and school staff in managing problem behaviors while ensuring that neurodiversity is embraced in the classroom.
Dr. Rachel’s journey began with her passion for youth and neurodiversity, ignited during her teenage years while volunteering with the Friendship Circle, an organization that supports children with special needs. She holds a Bachelor of Arts (B.A) in Psychology with a minor in Jewish Studies from Rutgers University. She continued her academic quest, earning her Masters in Psychology (PsyM) and Doctorate in Psychology (PsyD) from Rutgers University and added a certification in gifted educations from Rutgers Graduate School of Education.
Dr. Rachel completed her post-doctoral residency at Nova Southeastern University (NSU), where she continues to provide clinical supervision for doctoral students. Prior to joining Dr. Yudell & associates, Dr. Rachel was the Assistant Clinic Director of the Florida International University (FIU) Center for Children and Families’ Attentional and Behavioral Disorders clinic where she headed the comprehensive psychoeducational testing services for referrals including but not limited to attentional, behavioral, developmental, learning, and mood disorders, and provided treatment and consultation services.
Dr. Rachel’s unique training in both school and clinical psychology positions her as a bridge between parents, schools and youth, ensuring every child receives the holistic support they need.
